During this regular season, Marcus and his foundation plan to host many more youth at games and expand his community efforts in the Chicago community.
Lost Boyz and Boys & Girls Club at the Chicago Cubs
April 11, 2023
On April 11th, the HDMH Foundation brought youth out from two community groups–Lost Boyz and Boys & Girls Club. Marcus met some youth from the Lost Boyz, where they sat in the Cubs dugout, spoke with Marcus Stroman, played catch and took photos. Youth enjoyed complimentary boxed meals and a HMDH t-shirt with Cubs logo on the sleeve and Stroman’s number on the back.
Martin Luther King Jr. Academy of Social Justice at the Chicago Cubs
April 26, 2023
On April 26th, HDMH Foundation hosted youth from the Martin Luther King Jr. Academy of Social Justice. 26 students, from grades 4 to 8, went on field and met Marcus Stroman. They have been selected for this special experience as they have been doing well in school and/or showing great improvement.
Billy Goat Tavern supported the event by covering the cost of the bus. HDMH Foundation is covering the cost of food and providing kids with HDMH shirts and socks.
“The Grip” Reading Event

Marcus visited the O’Keeffe School of Excellence at noon. He met the 8th grade class (total 44) in the auditorium to share his journey, read an excerpt from “The Grip”, answer their questions and surprise them all with an autographed book and news of attending a Cubs.

On May 26th, HDMH Foundation hosted the 8th grade class from O’Keeffe School of Excellence at a Cubs game. They got to go on field, talk with Marcus again and get photos. They all got Cubs and HDMH gift bags. Food was provided by Home Run Inn.

Pride Month Involvement

During Pride Month, Marcus Stroman supported Brave Space Alliance, Hetrick-Martin Institute, and Toronto’s The 519, all LGBTQ+ nonprofits that were in markets important to Marcus. His goal with the donations was to support advocacy and awareness for LGBTQ+ issues as well as highlight our humanity.

As a follow-up to Marcus’ Pride Month donation, HDMH Foundation hosted staff from Brave Space Alliance. They received pizza from HRI and took photos on the field with Marcus.
UCAN Chicago at the Chicago Cubs

HDMH Foundation hosted 10 youth and 2 chaperones from UCAN Chicago at a Cubs game where they enjoyed pizza from HRI and took photos on the field with Marcus. UCAN Chicago serves and impacts over 21,000 at-risk children, youth and families across Illinois. They provide a continuum of care that meets clients where they are.
MAPS Corps Chicago at the Chicago Cubs

HDMH Foundation hosted 10 youth and 2 chaperones from MAPS Corps Chicago at a Cubs game where they enjoyed pizza from HRI and took photos on the field with Marcus. MAPS Corps Chicago trains youth to produce high quality data about community assets that everyone can use to improve the human condition.
Advanced Screening of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at the Chicago Cubs
July 25, 2023
Marcus Stroman and his HDMH Foundation hosted over 100 youth at an advanced screening of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie at Cinema Chatham Chicago. We invited youth from UCAN Chicago, O’Keeffe School of Excellence and Lost Boyz. Each child received popcorn and a beverage.
